Performance Management

Performance Management is increasingly being referred to as a lost cause. When one considers how important a role performance management plays in achieving organisational goals, this is surprising.

Dr Anthony is not however surprised:

"Management overall has perhaps become a forgotten art because ironically, the more we communicate these days, the less is really heard. We communicate by email, SMS, Facebook, BB, What's App etc. The critical manager-subordinate interaction required in a one:one performance review needs a high level of emotional intelligence and very good one:one communication skills. The manager or supervisor needs to be assertive yet at the same time, very aware of where the subordinate is coming from."
